Going to see Inglorious Basterds today, a new movie. Waiting on my Farmville strawberries to finish growing first, ha. Leave for Flagler a week from today. Very excited. Should be a good semester and I'm glad I know some people before leaving unlike last year. I'll update soon. PCE!

Another Week

Well, here I am in August. Starting another work week in the morning. Week 7 outta 10. Over 60% done?! Gee whiz. I'm hitting the gym tomorrow, trying to lose some lbs. Gotta wake up bright and early. I'll let you know how that goes. Hoping to get more healthy post-Crohns flareup. I can make it happen if I really put my mind to it which I plan on doing. I had my last McChicken today. :) Rough summer. Things will get better. Hope to leave for school on Sat. Aug. 29th although work ends Fri. Aug. 28th. It should be interesting, if nothing else. Saturday was my Grandma's 80th birthday and we went to my Aunts. Good food, lots of beed, solid time. My oldtime buddy Dann picked me up. His gal is due, ironically enough, Aug. 29, although most expect it to come early. She's f'n huge. (the stomach I mean). The party we went to was kinda boring but we had fun regardless. Baby's room is really sharp looking, painted green with a monkey/jungle theme. Anyway, very busy day tomorrow. Catchin' some Zs but I'll get back on here tomorrow.

So today I went to Saco, Maine. Funtown USA. Long drive with 6th graders for Boys and Girls Club field trip. Luckily, I was assigned 7 relatively good kids. I like some aspects of my job, don't enjoy others. Went to see a local band down the street in the park for a free summer concert series after work. Played mostly new wave ish. It was OK. Ate Ramano's pizza. Good. Boring summer. Forgettable. Going to make this fall a blast. Excited but nervous about leave for Flagler in about a month - the first year was tough at times but pretty beneficial in the long run. Tomorrow is a regular Friday, then the weekend. No plans yet, but I wanna go out. Maybe get drunk. I'll let 'cha know.

Hello

Hello. The name is Ryan Pimentel - I live in a small New England town and I'm educated in the tropical tourist traps of Florida. I have big dreams - but for now, I'll settle for this blog.

As I currently scribble out some words, I'm listening to the classic album by Derek and the Dominos, Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs. The music is so touching, so spectacularly emotional, that I consider it one of the finest works of rock ever recorded. It's Eric Clapton at his peak, along with the greatness of Duane Allman. Tragedy would soon hit, with Clapton going into rehab for heroin addiction and Allman dying at TWENTY FOUR in a tragic motorcycle accident. Yet even at his young age, he accomplished so much. Rolling Stone magazine ranks him as the second best guitarist of all time, behind only the God, Jimi Hendrix. Remarkable. The guy (I'm drawing a blank) behind the beautiful, lush piano coda at the end of the classic track Layla went insane, heard voices in his head, and murdered his mother. He's still in jail. How tragic. Still, this album will never, ever be forgotten. So many terrific riffs and melodies.

It makes me think of what I have accomplished at the age of 21. If Duane Allman can be considered a legitimate Guitar God at the tender age of 24, surely it's time for me to spread my wings and make my mark. I like to say I'm biding my time for something grand, something special. I hope to make my mark at some point and perhaps leave a legacy like Allman did.

Until next time
